Shipping policy
Clearance bars are long, bulky products that must ship by freight, not parcel. This page explains how our shipping process works, what to expect at delivery, and how to handle freight damage if it occurs. Please read it before placing your order so there are no surprises.
1. Production lead time
Production timing is confirmed with your order. Production starts after payment and specification approval (see Section 3 below). "Business day" means Monday through Friday, excluding United States federal holidays. Lead time does not include weekends, holidays, or the time the shipment spends in transit with the carrier after it leaves our facility.
Custom-color orders (Pantone, Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, Matthews, or physical-sample matches) may take 2–3 additional business days while we prepare and verify the color. We will notify you if this applies to your order.
2. Shipping method: LTL freight
Every order ships via less-than-truckload (LTL) freight. Bars ranging from 4 to 12 feet in length cannot be shipped via UPS, FedEx Ground, or USPS. Typical carriers we use include FedEx Freight, XPO, Old Dominion, Estes, and Saia, depending on the route and current service ratings.
Bars are packaged in protective crating or bundling on a wooden pallet or skid appropriate to the length. Multiple bars to the same address are generally combined onto one pallet to reduce freight cost.
3. Delivery pricing before payment
Because LTL freight is priced by origin, destination, weight, dimensions, and accessorial services (liftgate, inside delivery, residential, notification), we confirm a shipment-specific delivery price before payment:
- Configure your bars and enter the delivery address and unloading requirements.
- Review an online delivery price or request a complete delivered project quote. A quote request does not charge your card.
- Approve the final specification and delivered total, then pay securely through Stripe.
- Production is queued after payment and any required purchasing or specification approval. Review the confirmed production estimate supplied with your delivered quote.
- When the bar ships, we email you the tracking number and the carrier's web link for monitoring transit.
Quote expiry is shown before purchase. If your cart or delivery requirements change, refresh the quote before paying. We recheck carrier pricing and book pickup after production; a later change to our carrier cost does not automatically change your accepted delivery charge. Existing orders placed under an earlier separate-freight arrangement retain their original invoice workflow.
4. Geographic coverage
We currently ship to all 48 contiguous United States. We do not ship to:
- Alaska and Hawaii — contact us for a custom quote; freight to non-contiguous states is substantially more expensive and has longer transit times.
- Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands — contact us.
- APO/FPO/DPO military addresses — not supported by LTL freight.
- Post Office boxes — LTL freight requires a physical address.
- International destinations outside the United States — not currently offered. Canadian and Mexican shipments may be available in the future. Check back or email us.
5. Delivery options and accessorials
Standard freight delivery is curbside / dock-high. This means:
- If you have a loading dock at truck height, the driver will back up to the dock and you unload from the trailer.
- If you do not have a dock, the driver places the freight at the curb or end of the driveway and it is your responsibility to move it from there.
Optional accessorials (additional fee, added to the freight invoice):
- Liftgate service — the truck is equipped with a hydraulic gate to lower the pallet to ground level. Recommended for any delivery without a dock and without a forklift on site.
- Inside delivery — driver brings the freight inside the first doorway past the threshold. Not a white-glove service.
- Residential delivery — required for residential addresses regardless of whether a dock exists.
- Call-before-delivery notification — carrier calls the phone number on the BOL 24–48 hours before the delivery appointment.
Liftgate and residential delivery are checkboxes at checkout. For inside delivery or a call-before-delivery notification, note it in the delivery notes field at checkout (or reply to your freight-quote email) and we will price it into the freight quote. Adding any accessorial after the shipment is booked requires a carrier-side change and may increase the fee.
6. Transit time
Typical LTL transit time is 2–7 business days after the freight leaves our facility, depending on the distance and the carrier's service level. We cannot guarantee a specific arrival day or time; carriers provide an estimated window and usually call before delivery on residential routes.
7. Inspection and sign-for procedure
This is the most important part of this page. When the truck arrives:
- Do not wave the driver off. Inspect the shipment while the driver is present.
- Check the outside of the crate or pallet for puncture, crushing, water-staining, or signs of fork-truck damage.
- Count the pieces against the bill of lading (BOL).
- If anything is wrong, note "DAMAGED — subject to inspection" or "SHORT — [count]" on the BOL before you sign.
- Take photos of the damage and the marked BOL.
- Sign, accept the shipment, and email us within 7 days at support@customclearancebars.com with the photos.
Signing "clear" (no notation) waives your right to a freight-damage claim in most cases. Noted damage is nearly always resolved with a replacement or refund. This single step is the most effective protection you have against freight carrier mishandling.
8. Lost or delayed shipments
If tracking shows no movement for more than 5 business days or the carrier declares the shipment lost, email us immediately. We will file a trace with the carrier and keep you informed. If the shipment is confirmed lost, we will remake and reship your order at no cost; you do not bear the loss.
9. Address changes after order
Contact us as soon as possible if you need to change the shipping address. Before freight pickup, we can usually change it without charge. After freight has been picked up and is in transit, address changes require a carrier-side reconsignment fee (commonly $50–$150) that we will pass through to you if approved. If you provide an incorrect address and the shipment is returned as undeliverable, the redelivery fee and any storage charges are your responsibility.
10. Questions
If any part of this process is unclear, email support@customclearancebars.com or visit our contact page. We would much rather clarify something in advance than troubleshoot it on the dock.
