Ordering & pricing
Our clearance bars start at $299.00 for a standard 6-inch bar. Price depends on thickness, length, color, night-visibility options, longer lettering, and mounting hardware. The builder shows the price as you go, and its review step adds delivery to your ZIP so you see the delivered total before you pay—no need to call for a quote.
Yes — bulk pricing applies automatically at checkout, no codes needed: 5+ bars save 5%, 10+ bars save 10%, 25+ bars save 15%, and 50+ bars save 20%.
Yes. Every configuration can be saved as a submittal-ready spec sheet with itemized pricing — open the submittal package from the builder's review step. The sheet carries a live link that always reflects current pricing. For volume projects or specs outside the configurator, contact us with quantities and destination ZIP and we will reply with a written quote within one business day.
Yes. We offer stock colors (black, white), premium colors (safety yellow, red, blue, green), and full custom color matching. You can specify any Pantone, Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, or Matthews color code, and we'll match it exactly. For unique colors, you can also mail in a physical sample for us to match.
Shipping & freight
Production timing is confirmed with your delivered quote after reviewing current shop capacity. You review the complete delivered price before paying. Custom color matching or physical samples can add time; we confirm those details before production.
Before you pay. Enter your ZIP on the builder's review step to see the delivered price. LTL freight depends on the packed dimensions, destination and unloading facilities. Supported shipments receive a delivery price online. Other shipments receive a complete project quote for you to review without an upfront payment.

Product & installation
A clearance bar (also called a height warning bar or headache bar) is a suspended safety device installed at entrances with low overhead clearance. When an oversized vehicle approaches, the bar makes contact with the vehicle before it can hit the actual structure, warning the driver to stop. Clearance bars protect parking garages, drive-thrus, loading docks, and canopies from costly damage caused by trucks, RVs, and vehicles with roof cargo.
We make clearance bars in four thicknesses: 4-inch (slim, for low-speed lanes and tight openings), 6-inch (standard, for garage entrances and drive-thrus), 8-inch (heavy, for busy lots, box trucks and RVs), and 10-inch (maximum, for truck courts and loading docks). Lengths range from 48 inches to 144 inches (4 to 12 feet), with 10-inch bars limited to 112 inches. Enter your opening width in the builder and it sizes the bar to leave 6 inches clear on each side; you can adjust the length to the inch.
Our clearance bars are built from heavy-wall Schedule 40 PVC, which offers excellent durability, UV resistance, and weather resistance. PVC won't rust, rot, or corrode, making it ideal for outdoor applications. It's lightweight yet rigid, reducing installation complexity while holding a straight, true span.
Measure from the driving surface to the lowest overhead point — the lowest beam, pipe, sprinkler, sign or door track anywhere along the lane. The builder posts a clearance 3 inches under that point, the standard safety buffer, and the bar hangs with its bottom at the posted height, so a vehicle that's too tall meets the bar before your structure. You can adjust the posted height; confirm it with whoever is responsible for the site. The size calculator does the same math if you want to measure first.
The 2010 ADA Standards (§502.5) call for at least 98 inches (8' 2") of vertical clearance at van-accessible parking spaces, their access aisles and the vehicle routes that serve them. A clearance bar hangs with its bottom edge at the height it posts, so a bar posted under 8' 2" on that route sits below that minimum. When you build a bar for a parking garage, the clearance step asks whether the entrance leads to van-accessible parking and points out a clearance under 98 inches. Check with whoever is responsible for the site; local codes may differ. This is general information, not legal advice.
Yes. The builder offers three levels: standard (paint and vinyl, for well-lit entrances), reflective ends (reflective stripes on both ends that catch headlights on the approach), and fully reflective (reflective ends plus reflective lettering, for dark, unlit entrances). Reflective lettering comes in white or yellow, so it is offered on darker bar colors. You can choose stripe width (2", 4", or 6"), single or double stripes, and vertical or slanted orientation.
You choose in the builder's mounting step: hooks and chains (ceiling eye hooks plus a zinc-plated chain kit, everything to hang the bar from a ceiling or beam), chains only (you already have anchor points), or bar only (your installer supplies all hanging hardware). With hooks you can set the number (2–5) and their spacing from the bar ends. Building-specific anchors and installation are not included.
Returns & support
Custom-configured bars are made to order and are non-returnable once production begins, but we replace or refund any bar with a manufacturing defect or a spec mismatch against your order. You can also cancel for a full refund any time before production starts. Report defects within 7 days of delivery with photos.
Note the damage on the freight bill of lading when you sign for delivery, photograph the damage and the notation, and email us within 7 days. We file the carrier claim and remake or refund the damaged bar — you do not have to fight the freight company yourself.
